By the end of this year, in addition to the already allocated 3 billion rubles, the Russian authorities will pay another 7 billion rubles to the Institute for Internet Development to create “spiritual and moral” content for the population.

The money will be allocated from the federal budget. According to RBC , the extraordinary 7 billion rubles in favor of the Internet Development Institute will come from the Government's Reserve Fund.

“The funds are intended“ for the production of state content, including those aimed at the formation of civic identity and spiritual and moral values among young people, ”the message says.

Earlier it was planned to allocate 3 billion rubles from the budget for “spirituality” on the Web.

Additional funds will go to support 200 Internet projects, the implementation of which is designed for the period until December 31 of this year.

Sources in the presidential administration indicate that in the near future, state funding for this area will increase by half, and in the future it will double.

The aim of the work of the ANO "Institute for the Development of the Internet", created in 2015, is called "building a discussion platform for the Internet and media industry." In addition, the organization is engaged in conducting public and commissioned industry research, as well as "establishing a dialogue between the industry and the government." Among the examples of the ANO's work is the creation of the teenage drama "Fool Herself" and the series for the online cinema more.tv "Difficult Teens".

The money received from the state by the ANO, under the supervision of the supervisory board, headed by the deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, will be divided among other performers in a special competition. VGTRK, Channel One, RT, Yandex and a number of other major market players can become its participants.

Industry participants refer to the funding allocated as "a weighty amount." It is possible that it will be able to support the industry in the face of a drop in revenues that occurred during the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, a number of experts doubt that young creative groups will be able to take advantage of the proposed state support due to the presence of an explicit political component in the project.

The selection criteria for applicants and the requirements for the final product have not yet been officially named.
