In Novosibirsk, the leader of "Jehovah's Witnesses"* was sentenced to six years in prison

The accused was convicted under the first part of Article 282.2 - organizing an extremist organization.

“By a court verdict, the defendant was sentenced to six years of imprisonment in a general regime colony,” Interfax quotes the report of the Investigative Committee for the region.

The court was able to establish that from July 2017 to September 2018, the convict in his apartment “organized religious meetings, at which he directed the reading and discussion of extremist literature, as well as conducting religious rituals in order to promote the activities of the Local Christian religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses “Zarechnaya, Novosibirsk", in respect of which the court adopted a final decision on the liquidation of activities in connection with the implementation of the extremist activities".

Earlier, on November 24, security officials detained the leaders of the “Administrative Center of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia”. According to the investigators, the suspects are guilty of the fact that from June 2019 to the present, the followers of the movement, knowing about the entry into force of the decision of the RF Armed Forces to ban the organization, opened a unit in Moscow that promotes the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Let us recall that in early October, the trial of the married couple of Sergei and Valeria Raimanov in the case of the creation of a regional cell of the banned organization "Jehovah's Witnesses" ended in Kostroma. The court found the spouses guilty on 282.2.ch.1 and 292.ch.2 - "organizing the activities of an extremist organization and participating in it". Rayman was sentenced to eight years 'suspended imprisonment, and his wife received seven years' suspended sentence.
