The chemist, one of the developers of the Novichok battle poison, Vil Mirzayanov (pictured), asked for forgiveness from opposition leader Alexey Navalny. He also said that after the creation of Novichok, he devoted his entire life to the fight against the use of such substances.

“I sincerely apologize to Navalny for participating in this criminal business - the development of this substance, with which he was poisoned”, - Mirzayanov said on the Dozhd TV channel.

Since 1995, the chemist has lived in the United States. After the Novichok was developed, Mirzayanov pointed out, he began work to prevent the use of combat poisons.

Mirzayanov said that in 1993 he met with a survivor of the Novichok poisoning. According to him, the symptoms described by this man are very similar to those mentioned by Navalny in his Instagram post on September 19.

- Apparently, Navalny will have to be patient. But, ultimately, he must be healthy, - suggested the chemist.

As for the situation with the inability to write words on the blackboard, which Navalny spoke about, this, according to Mirzayanov, is associated with problems in the transmission of signals from the brain to functional organs. Molecules Novichok, said one of the creators of the poison, do not allow the breakdown of the protein, which is responsible for the transmission of these signals.

Let us recall that on September 19, Navalny wrote on the social network about how his recovery from the poisoning is going. He described himself as a "technically alive person" who can barely fill himself with water and write words on the board.

Earlier, Mirzayanov explained how they could have poisoned Navalny. He spoke of a nerve agent from the Novichok group called A-242. According to him, this poison is much more toxic than A-234, which was "used in England".
