Documents and equipment were taken away from Russian tourists detained in the Republic of Chad. They have not been informed of the reasons for their detention for a week.

According to one of the detainees, the administrator of the Novosibirsk public "Ast-54" of the public "VKontakte" Vitaly Polishchuk, on May 19 a group of tourists arrived in the capital of Cameroon, Yaounde. On May 25, the travelers crossed the border into Chad and reached N'Djamena. There they were joined by five more tourists, including one from Lithuania. On May 28, the entire group set out from the city for a three-week trip across the territory of the republic. The route taken by the tourists was coordinated with the Chadian Ministry of Internal Affairs - it ran to the north of the country towards the border with Libya.

However, when the tourists had already covered most of their journey, while bypassing the unstable region of Tibesti, they were stopped in the city of Faya-Larjo. People in military uniforms woke them up early in the morning and took them to the police station, where an inspection was carried out, and some of their belongings and passports were confiscated. The military sent them to a place that they called the "mansion of the head of the province." Then, by plane, the Russians were sent back to N'Djamena. They were taken to the hotel, where they are now.

Russian diplomats were unable to obtain up-to-date information on the current status of the detainees.

- After three days, when the Chadian side had to, following the protocol, either bring charges or let the tourists go, nothing happened. The detainees are still at the hotel and do not have any information about what is happening, the community reported on the social network.

It is clarified that tourists can keep in touch through phones that were not seized during the search, since they were deep in their bags.
