Roskomnadzor demanded from Google to block Navalny's Smart Voting website

This was announced by Elantsev himself on his Facebook. The lawyer published Roskomnadzor's response to his appeal. The text says that the department sent a letter to Google LLC, which owns the platform on which the site is hosted, "to assist in taking measures to prevent the unlawful processing of personal data of Russian citizens by terminating the technical support of the site."

As a claim, Elantsev pointed out the storage of information about users abroad, on US servers, the collection of personal data - addresses, phone numbers were requested, to which the operator of the site, LLC "Land of Tides", had no right.

- The data was collected under the pretext that in the future users will be able to become election observers. But this is unjustified. As an electoral lawyer, I understand that we are talking about political technologies, and this is not fair, ”Elantsev emphasized.

He also clarified that Roskmndzor with its own funds must block the site within three days, and as for Google, the corporation does not comply with up to 30% of the decisions of the Russian department. If this situation also happens, Roskomnadzor will go to court.

Note that political scientist Dmitry Orlov called "Smart Voting" a project with "limited effectiveness."
