Scammers collect money on social networks for the funeral of those who as if died because COVID-19

A new type of fraud was revealed by employees of Roskachestvo, who also received similar messages on social networks, allegedly from friends. They note that the text is emotional but impersonal. Fraudsters are waiting for the interlocutor to offer financial assistance, otherwise they themselves ask to throw off money for organizing the funeral.

Anton Kukanov, head of the Roskachestvo Center for Digital Expertise, recalls that whenever you are asked for financial assistance on the Internet, you need to double-check the information. “For example, to communicate with a person or his relatives through another communication channel. This way you minimize the risks of donating your money to scammers", - he says.
