The vice-mayor of Khabarovsk, the first deputy mayor of the city for economic issues, 60-year-old Irina Shapiro (pictured) went on vacation at the end of August, then took sick leave, - the website of the radio station ekho Moskvy reports. As the cause of her death, the Ministry of Health of the Khabarovsk Territory named chronic diseases with laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infection.

At the same time, protests continue in Khabarovsk itself related to the arrest of the former governor of the region, Sergey Furgal, accused of organizing the murders. Local authorities urged protesters to be careful in connection with the aggravation of the situation with the incidence of coronavirus.

The duties of the first deputy mayor of the city on economic issues are performed by the head of the economic development department, Alexander Anisimov, - said the Interfax agency.
