Sergei Solodovnikov (pictured), a retired FSB general who works as deputy general director of the research innovation MAI-LASTAR, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for embezzlement on an especially large scale and organizing a criminal community.

According to the telegram channel Mash, MAI-LASTAR was engaged in development for Scientific development and production center named after Lavochkin, a leading Russian company-developer of space devices for use in low-earth orbit and in deep space.

In addition to Solodovnikov, there were five other defendants in the theft case. They were taught terms ranging from 15 years and eight months to 15 years and nine months. Four of them were taken into custody immediately after the announcement of the verdict.

In the final decision, the court also left an article on participation in a criminal community. According to the judge, Solodovnikov and other defendants gave evidence during the arrest, which they later retracted.

It's worth reminding that in 2018, the general director of the NPO named after I. Lavochkin Sergey Lemeshevsky became a defendant in a criminal case of fraud. The head of the Directorate of Legal Support Yekaterina Averyanova was also detained. The case against both was instituted "on the fact of theft on an especially large scale of the enterprise's funds by paying for fictitious legal services provided by the Tretyakov and Partners law firm in the amount of 330 million rubles".
