A significant overstatement of prices for socially significant food products in the village of Krasnosekulsk in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was revealed by the prosecutor's office of the Krasnosekulskiy region.

“It was found that individual entrepreneurs raised prices for onions, apples, cabbage, potatoes, vegetable oil and other goods by 120%”, - the ministry said in a statement.

The prosecutor made a submission to business entities to eliminate violations of the law. A case was opened against businessmen for violating the pricing procedure. Based on the results of the inspection, the prices for the products will be brought in line with the requirements of the law, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Note that Pyaterochka stores in Salekhard in June of this year overstated prices for butter and cabbage by 257%. And in September, the Federal Antimonopoly Service drew attention to the overstatement of prices by Pyaterochka in the Moscow region. Also, unjustifiably high prices were noted by the service in the "Magnit" network.

Earlier it was reported that "food inflation" - that is, a sharp rise in the price of food - broke a seven-year record in the world during the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the amount of free money among the population of the Russian Federation in September of this year fell to record lows.
