Vladimir Putin noted that the new challenge can only be met by working together with the international community. In particular, it is necessary to monitor the effectiveness of PCR tests, which should show the presence of a given disease, as well as the effectiveness of vaccines that should protect against it. In addition, the health care system must remain on high alert.

“The global economy is recovering gradually after the crisis, but the pace of this recovery is still in question. And the reason is well known to us - another wave of the disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. Because of it, governments around the world are forced to set new restrictions”, - the president said. He is quoted by TASS.

The President also drew attention to the rise in prices around the world. This is due to several reasons, in particular, with the mixing of demand from services for goods, the disruption of supply chains due to the closure of borders, as well as a shortage for individual goods. Moreover, inflation is accelerated by the soft monetary policies of developed countries. According to the president, Russians feel this inflationary pressure very strongly. He urged to fight not only the consequences of inflation, but also to work ahead of the curve.

Recall that a new strain of coronavirus has been identified in southern Africa. People with this strain are already in Israel, Hong Kong, Belgium, Austria, Great Britain and other states. Countries suspend flights to southern Africa, and also oblige citizens who have returned from these countries to comply with quarantine.
