One of the most famous and successful Russian athletes, swimmer Yulia Yefimova, announced her desire to become a US citizen.

Three-time Olympic swimming medalist Yulia Efimova admitted the possibility of obtaining US citizenship, but now it is more important for her to get a green card, TASS reports:

“I don't even have a green card yet, and you're talking about American citizenship. If given such an opportunity, then why not. And over the green card, one would think that it would be possible not to make a visa all the time, because it is so difficult - to constantly open, reopen. We'll see there".

However, all recent years, Efimova already lives and trains in the United States.

When asked if she expects a negative reaction in Russia if she receives US citizenship, 29-year-old Efimova replied: "What a reaction, I am already finishing my sport".

Earlier in an interview with "Soviet Sport" Yefimova already explained why she can make such a decision:

“I remember in 2012, when I arrived in Russia, they told me: “You need to drink psychotropic pills. You're happy! You can't be like that before the competition! You have to focus on the goal, get in the mood. " I look at them, and only one thought: "Fuck." On the contrary, it is necessary! And here - these fees, pressure, everyone walks like soldiers. It rains every day, depression is around. They say to you: "You have already Americanized." But when you arrive in California, everyone sees you as a normal girl..."
