"The RFU Technical Committee, like Cherchesov himself, recognized the work of the head coach as unsatisfactory, since the Russian team took fourth place in its group", - Mikhail Gershkovich, head of the Russian Coaches Association, commented to RIA Novosti.

He added that Cherchesov himself presented at a meeting of the technical committee a detailed report on the training of football players, the tests that they passed before the matches, up to a biochemical blood test. According to the results of these analyzes, physically Russian athletes were ready for the games, but the level of skill of the players, according to the general opinion of the RFU, let us down. The union came to the conclusion that it is necessary to develop youth football.

Earlier, "Soviet Sport", citing the opinion of the former defender of the national teams of the USSR and Russia, Andrei Chernyshov, wrote that after the failure at Euro 2020, the head coach of the Russian national team may lose his position. “ But Cherchesov is not going to leave yet, apparently, there is a bargaining for a solid penalty. And in September we have qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup. It is clear that the current team is in its psychological state and with this coach will not go anywhere”, - he commented.

Recall that at the last European Championship Russia took fourth place. The country lost to Belgium with a score of 0: 3 and Denmark with a score of 1: 4. The only match that we managed to win in the Russian championship was a meeting with Finland, which ended with a score of 1: 0. The Russian national team was named "the best among the worst" at Euro 2020 - only Russian footballers scored three points among the last teams in their groups.
