This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolay Evmenov, reports the Information Support Service of the Main Command of the Russian Navy.
According to Evmenov, the system of modernization, scheduled repair and maintenance of deep-sea rescue vehicles of the Prize and Bester type is now effectively operating in the Navy.
In particular, the AS-36 Bester being modernized for the Northern Fleet will in the future have new characteristics that will allow it to be used in the Arctic zone. “This is important for the Northern Fleet, whose forces are active in the Arctic. We are talking about new positioning systems, hydroacoustic search and television control, as well as updated life support systems", - said Evmenov.
According to him, the modernization program was developed by the Main Command of the Navy in cooperation with design organizations and industrial enterprises. It is designed for a period of more than 10 years and also includes work on the creation of the next generation of deep-sea rescue vehicles.
“In recent years, 6 deep-sea rescue vehicles, which are part of the search and rescue services of the fleets, have gone through the necessary cycle of modernization and repair at the enterprises”, - concluded the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy.
