President of Ukraine said that Western countries should close entry for all Russians for a year, as well as expel Russian citizens who have already arrived. The Ukrainian leader called these "the most important sanctions" and stressed that the Russians must "live in their own world until they change their philosophy".

He spoke about this in an hour-long interview with the Washington Post . According to the Ukrainian president, other Western sanctions imposed because of the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine are not effective enough. He made this statement in response to announced plans to hold referendums of pro-Russian administrations in Ukrainian territories controlled by the Russian Federation.

“Then they will understand. They'll say, "That doesn't apply to us. The whole population can't be held responsible, can it?" Maybe. The population has chosen this government, and they don’t fight it, don’t argue with it, don’t shout at it,” Zelensky said (quoted from Kommersant ).

The President of Ukraine also called for the expulsion of Russians who had already arrived, including those who disagreed with the Kremlin's policies. In his opinion, "such differences do not matter."

“Whatever the Russians are, let them go to Russia,” the Ukrainian president added.
