Gazprom will be checked for involvement in the rise in gas prices in Europe

According to the letter signed by 43 parliamentarians, in July-September this year, spot gas prices for Europe soared to "unprecedented levels". Now the price of gas in Europe reaches $ 700 per thousand cubic meters of gas. For comparison, at the beginning of the year the price was 2.5 times lower - only $ 300.

"Suppliers of natural gas and business publications cite Gazprom's actions as the key reason for such a surge in prices". - the parliamentarians said in a letter. In particular, the company refused to guarantee additional volumes of gas supplies during this summer due to insufficient reserves ahead of the winter season. At the same time, according to European market analysts, the company has enough resources to provide additional gas volumes.

It's worth reminding that the price of gas in Europe on September 15 reached $ 969 per thousand cubic meters. Prices for this resource are skyrocketing amid depletion of reserves in European storage facilities, as well as limited gas supplies. Now gas reserves in Europe are estimated at 70%. This is 15% lower than the stocks were by this period in recent years.
