US President Donald Trump demanded that the World Health Organization (WHO) make changes to its work and prove the independence from China. If within 30 days the organization does not fulfill the requirements of the American leader, Washington will finally cease funding and reconsider the membership.

Trump notified about this the head of the WHO Tedros Ghebreyesus. He posted a copy of the letter on his Twitter page.

In this document the American president warns Gebreyesus that Washington’s membership in the organization will be redefined.

“We don’t have time to waste”, - Trump writes.

He recalled that the organization ignored early reports on the situation with coronavirus in Chinese Wuhan in early December last year and earlier. According to Trump, WHO was unable to investigate data that contradicted Chinese government information.

“Even declaring a public health emergency of international concern on January 30, WHO was not able to get international experts to admit China in due time”, - Trump said.

Earlier, the US president called the WHO "puppet" of China.

We recall that on April 15, Trump announced the suspension of funding for WHO, because she “failed to fulfill her basic duty and must be held accountable”.

- The reality is that WHO did not sufficiently receive, verify or disseminate information in a timely and transparent manner. The world expects WHO to work with countries so that the accurate information on international health threats is disseminated in a timely manner, and if this does not happen, countries have to independently inform the world of what is happening. WHO has not fulfilled this basic duty and must be held accountable. After so many decades, the time has come, - the head of the White House announced.

It is worth noting that the United States is the largest donor to WHO. Only in 2019, the country sent organizations $ 400 million - 15% of the US budget.
