FBI officers completed searches in mansions in New York and Washington - the houses, according to the representative of the Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska, belong to his family.

The searches ended four hours apart. This was reported by TASS and RIA Novosti.

Before leaving the house in Washington, the agents carried dozens of boxes and suitcases into the building. To clarify what is in them, the FBI officers did not, writes RIA Novosti.

As for the house in New York, located near Manhattan, at the time of the completion of the searches there, the windows in the building were curtained and the door was closed. No one entered the house and no one left after the employees left. Media representatives gathered near the house associated with Deripaska dispersed without receiving answers to their questions. As in Washington, the agents took with them many boxes, parcels and folders of papers.

Deripaska's official representative Larisa Belyaeva clarified in an interview with TASS that the businessman is not the owner of the real estate in question - it is owned by his relatives.

"Searches are carried out on the basis of court orders related to American sanctions", - said Belyaeva.

On the eve it became known about the beginning of searches in the house associated with the Russian businessman.

Against the background of what was happening during the trading on October 19, Rusal shares fell by more than 6%.

The American authorities canceled the visa of the Russian businessman back in 2006 - even before he was included in the OFAC's "black list".

In addition, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Deripaska and the companies under his control in April 2018. The businessman could not get to the United States, and his assets in the country were frozen. In June of this year, he lost a lawsuit to lift the sanctions.
