The Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved said that more than 4.2 thousand criminal cases related to extremism and terrorism were initiated in the republic.

“804 criminal cases against 1116 people were sent to the courts, 704 criminal cases against 955 people were considered”, - BelTA quotes the Swede.

According to the Prosecutor General of Belarus, the supervisory authorities take a principled position, and the perpetrators are brought to strict responsibility.

- This is due, among other things, to the implementation of the principle of inevitability of responsibility, - Shved emphasized.

Earlier, human rights activists from the unregistered center "Viasna" announced 534 political prisoners in Belarus. In early July, five more people were recognized as political prisoners: Alexander Ivulin, Daniil Kolesnikov, Maksim Zharov, Ilya Tolkach and Ruslan Volkov.

It's worth reminding that in 2020, after the presidential elections in the republic and the victory of Alexander Lukashenko in them, mass protests flared up. Repressions began against those who were dissatisfied with the official voting results, civic activists, the media and other Internet resources who reported on the rallies.
