Powerful storm in the Philippines claimed the lives of 58 people

More than 50 people died during a storm in the Philippines that triggered floods and landslides.

Storm Mega, the strongest since the beginning of this year, hit the Philippines and caused massive loss of life, according to AFP.

At the height of the storm, landslides and floods began on the archipelago. The total number of victims has reached 58, Kommersant reports. The elements hit the central province of Leyte the hardest.

"According to local authorities, at least 47 people were killed in Leyte, 27 were missing, and more than 100 were injured", - the report said.

Earlier it was reported that on December 16, the archipelago collapsed Typhoon Paradise. The total number of victims of the typhoon reached 326 people , at least 661 people were injured. "Paradise" is classified as a "super typhoon": wind gusts in the disaster area reached 185-230 km / h.
