The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economy of Germany have sent a request to the Swiss authorities to purchase a part of 96 preserved Leopard 2 tanks. They are planned to be used to replenish the military arsenals of those countries that previously agreed to send German tanks to Ukraine.

Negotiations between the heads of the US and German Defense Ministries on the supply of tanks to Ukraine ended in failure: despite pressure from the Pentagon, the new German Minister of War Boris Pistorius did not give in.

The German newspaper Bild published survey data that indicate that the Germans are dissatisfied with the supply of tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles to the territory of Ukraine.
